Bird Park

It's been awhile since we visited the Jurong Bird Park. Meg was all excited about it, going on about how she wanna feed the birds, let them perch on her arms etc. Ya right...

We arrived after lunch and our first stop was the penguin enclosure. Nice..the penguins stood so still, one would think they were fakes. Then we took a 15min ride on the panorail around the park. Actually the park's quite small compared to the zoo. They should consider upgrading the panorail cos it was so stuffy inside! Meg was perspiring!

After the ride, the next stop was the bird show and it was lovely seeing the hornbill swooping down, the parrot singing a song, parrots flying through hoops, adults behaving like kids when volunteers were called..oops! Not us, but I was rather amused at the reactions of the adults in the audience when the host called for volunteers. Duncan was happily clapping his hands whenever the audience clapped. He's into clapping these days.

Unfortunately, the rain came and the show had to be cut short. We had to hang around the amphitheatre to wait out the thunderstorm. Thankfully we didn't have to wait long and could move on to the Owl enclosure at about 4pm. I must say it was the first for me to see an owl up close, especially the rare ones like the funny face one (forgot the name) and the really huge one (also forgot the name). After leaving the owls, I thought I smelt something familiar and decided to check on Duncan...oh wow! He poo big time! It leaked out the side of his diaper and onto the stroller. Dammit. Luckily his clothes was spared and saved me the hassle of changing his romper. The amount of poo was amazing!

After the cleanup, we stopped by the Lory Loft to feed the erm..what else but birds. Some type of parrots (please see pic below cos I forgot the name again.) Initially Meg was gungho about feeding the birds but when we purchased the food...she backed out. So we had to feed instead and eh, the birds were rather aggressive. Oh, at this point, Duncan snoozed.

Next, we strolled around the whole park, viewing all the..what else..birds. Of course they are of different species..you have the cranes, flamingoes, the ostrich, vultures etc. The earlier rain helped to keep the weather cool and comfortable for a stroll. We finally left the park at about closing time and headed for the Hilltop restaurant for dinner before it's home-sweet-home. Meg KO in the car, which meant she didn't bathe and headed straight to bed. Yucks. At least Duncan held it out till after his bath before he also KO.
